I'd like to have a tool (plugin) for TC for redating files based on EXIF information.
Sometimes it happens I have to download pictures form digital cameras using different software which don't preserve original dates of the photos.
I think it shouldn't be difficult to create such a tool for TC. Maybe anyone....

Maybe
Stamp can serve as a workaround, it renames files according to their exif info, so you can sort them.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Well when it's just about renaming we have the multi rename tool.

Yes, I know I'm able to rename files using multi-rename option (with exif plugin) and sort them by names but I still would like to redate them

@
djk :
You can do that with
jhead . It's a 'must have' command line tool for JPEGs!
The Option
-ft Sets the file's system time stamp to what is stored in the Exif header.
should fit your needs.

Hi,
i have written for myself a little comandline tool to redate the filedate with the date from the exif-Information.
It could also work recursive through subdirectories and write a log to stdout.
Perhaps this is what you need, but i have no posibility to publish it.
If you want to try it send me an email
Charly over the forum with your email and i send it to you.
Ciao,

Just for your information, TC 7.0 will allows this too: You will be able to use any plugins of your choice to set the file timestamp. Of course only fields of type date, time or datetime will work.
