Undo Feature

Just curious, does total commander have an undo feature? If so, where can it be found? The undo is after a folder/file move was done.

My past few posts involved features that Windows Explorer has compared to TC. Please don't get the idea I like to use Windows Explorer, but there are times it does have something that TC doesn't. Believe me, TC does a zillion things that can't even compare to Windows Explorer.

At work, using a network server, most of the workers use Windows Explorer, I'm one of the lucky ones to use (licensed) TC. But I did notice that Windows XP Explorer has an undo button. This really comes handy when a worker accidentally or unknowingly moves a folder, it happened so fast that they don't know what happened or where the folder went. Clicking Undo remedies that.

TC doesn't have UNDO because it gives you a false feeling of security: Many operations like overwriting files cannot be undone at all. The only location where TC supports UNDO is in the multi-rename tool, even after closing and re-opening the tool. Since it doesn't allow to overwrite any files, UNDO is always possible.

It is pretty obvious that you cannot undo overwrite operations, but even the dumbest man on earth can accept that it's perfectly ok to

-undo a delete operation
-undo a copy operation
-undo a move operation
-undo a rename
-undo a folder creation
-undo a link creation

if the target is still in place.

Directory Opus has a working Undo system, it also allows logging of file operations, so even if the operation itself cannot be undone, at least you can see what you have done.

To me this seems a pretty reasonable starting point.
I hope that Christian is not going to keep on simply turning down the idea of such an undo feature.

Any modestly experienced user will understand that there are a lot of actions that cannot be undone - at least not without accepting a huge amount of time consuming overhead - but some actions can be undone, so why not implement what is possible without creating bloatware?

I'm afraid, that we will never see such undo features in TC...

Would it be theoretical possible to an experienced coder to build a filesystem plugin / an addon, which
* monitors all filesystem activities (which are triggered by TC),
* logs them in an undo list and
* provides correspondent undo functions?

How can TC undelete a file that has been deleted? If it has been deleted to the recycle bin, you can undelete it manually, if it has been deleted permanently, you can't undelete it and TC can't too.

You can also undelete it from recycle bin via right click on the Windows desktop.
