Access problem with ReiserFS-Plugin

Post by *Zak »

Hi,

I am sorry to announce, but there still seems to be (another?) problem with the ReiserFS-Plugin:

My new harddisk (250GB) has 4 partitions: 50GB NTFS, 50GB ext3, ~500MB Swap and the rest is ReiserFS (~140GB).

I have no problems accessing the ext3-one and accessing my external usb-reiserfs-partition, but when I doubleclick on hda4 to access the (internal) ReiserFS-Partition it says "Error: This is a Reiser file system partition". The whole log is the following:
Ext2 plugin: DIR \
Explore2fs version 1.00 pre 4
Written by John Newbigin
Windows NT 5.0 build number 2195
CONNECT \
Ext2 plugin: 2 partition(s) found
Ext2 plugin: DIR \hda4
Reiser partition starts on drive 0 at offset: 102914703360
Error: This is a Reiser file system partition
If I doubleclick again, Total Commander crashes.

Tell me, if you need more information.

Thanks,
Stefan

"Error: This is a Reiser file system partition" is a normal message shown when a Reiser file system is detected (because the EX2 plugin cannot handle it internally). Maybe you don't have the rfsdll.dll in the same directory as the ex2fs.wfx?

Yes, I have. Just checked again and the file is there. And as I said, accessing my external ReiserFS-Partition works perfectly.

Sorry, I have no other explanation. Do the two partitions use different versions of ReiserFS? The reiser plugin is already quite old, so it may not work with never versions of the file system.

No, I don't think that. They are both created within the last months with Debian.

Perhaps I can try some kind of debug-version to see more output?
Or can I somehow check if the offset shown above is the correct one?
Perhaps the number is too big?

Zak,

You could try if it works with the original rfstool.

Christian,
The reiser plugin is already quite old
Maybe you could adapt the plugin not to use the rfstool code directly, but rather use the rfshell.dll that has been created by the author to simplify integration of ReiserFS into existing applications?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Ok, I tried the rfstool and it crashes too.

I will try to contact Gerson Kurz to examine the problem now.
