Feature Request : Unpack queuing

Post by *Zarquon42 »

Hi,

I would like to see a Queue for unpack files (like the ony for copy).

In fact it would be great to queue any function of TC ;)

Regards.

Yes, would be nice, but unfortunately not all unpack functions would work in a background thread. For example, the unrar.dll was giving me problems (corrupted files when simultaneously unpacking in two separate threads). This is also the reason why searching cannot be moved to background.

Just a crazy idea (which doesn't really solve the problem, could help only with this particular RAR trouble) - maybe copying unrar.dll to a temporary name and loading additional instances of it (so that one instance would be used by one thread only) would help?

Well, actually this is exactly the thing you told me two years ago. And after that I asked Mr. Roshal about this problem and he told me there shouldn't be any already. Why don't you contact him and solve this problem as you already did several times before concerning other RAR-related situations? Or all this is about "low priority"? %)[/face]

LOL yeah, we want a REAL answer, not just this standard "low priority" phrase...

This would actually be quite a nice feature, considering no other unpacking program (known by me, atleast) can queue unpack operations.

Well, powerarchiver has "multiextract" but it works shitty at best.

So, any news on the subject? :)

Sorry, no news, this is one of the features which requires a lot of work (estimated a few weeks to rewrite all the functions) with very little gain.

I have searched for a program with that function for a long time with no luck.
And i know more ppl have also, so im pretty sure that total commander would be even more popular with such function :)
