Confirmed features in TC v7

Post by *clauderenaud »

Hi,

I purchased TC several months ago but I intensively use it since few weeks : It's a really good and powerful product.
I really love it ...
I know that this product exists since years and years.
And I would like to know, apart from plugins for tc, which are often released if there are plans to enhance tc itself ?

Greetings,

Versionnumbers x.00 and x.50 are usually major releases with many functional enhancements. Other versions are usually bugfix releases or releases with minor enhancements.

Mr. Ghisler is preparing V7.0 now (he is adding new functions ATM). If you search this forum, you will find some authors statements about some of the new functions, which we can expect for V7.0.

We should start gathering up those Christian references about new planned features here in order to have a single point of reference.

1. Improved selection of duplicate files -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8724
ghisler(Author) wrote:TC 7 will contain a new command which will select all files in the same directory, so this may help if the files and their duplicates are in different dirs. It has helped me already once. If anyone has another idea of selecting files in this situation, then it's NOW the time to suggest it, because I'm still in the phase of adding new functions.
2. Directory junctions improvements -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=5663

3. Improved compare function -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8676
ghisler(Author) wrote:The next version of TC will have a much improved compare function, and will also allow to specify an external compare tool if it's still not good enough.
4. Unzip handler -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=4748
ghisler(Author) wrote:...i have already modified my unzip code: I'm now opening the zip only once, and then unzip all files from it with the same file handle. This way the zip is opened only once.
5. More flexible directory slashes -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8593

6. Export content plugin data to text file -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8526
ghisler(Author) wrote:The next version of TC will be able to export content plugin data to a text file (as displayed, separated by TAB).
7. Manual resync -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8523

8. Autocomplete in command line -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8270

9. Silent uninstall -> Ref: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=8169

Note: There are also some references about bug fixes which are not included in my list above! The list also excludes "considerations". ;-)
Of course features can always be abandoned during development without notification and certainly Christian is hiding some cool new additions! :P

References go back up to 3 months from today (17/10/2005)

Please, continue the list if other references are available over non-English forum sections - with translations plz - as well as the polls and plug-ins sections...

Thank you!

PS: Lets hope that we'll also see new icons for v7.0. The version number justifies a fresh look! ;-)

This thread looks familiar anyhow. Haven't we had a similar thread? ;) :lol:

Anyway, one additional I found:

10. Display of 1 GB instead of 1024 MB

I don't think these are all the features we can expect from TC7. These are only the new features that have been already confirmed.

I hope Christian to have found a way to implement custom columns in FS plugins.

That reminded me of:

11. Sorting on multiple columns

(cannot remember where Christian promised that)

localized .inc files

Post by *petermad »

If the Unified Command system is not going to be implemented in v. 7, I would like to see the possibility of localizing the totalcmd.inc

That means that for example a localized wcmd_deu.inc would be loaded together with wcmd_deu.lng file when choosing German language.

By localizing the .incI only mean localizing the description of the commands.

If no .inc file is matching the name of the .lng file then TC should default to use totalcmd.inc
