[REQ] Yahoo Desktop Search / Stellent filters

Post by *icfu »

This feature request was originally placed here as an addition to the new FileDesc plugin with WhereIsIt? support:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=9039

Directory Opus is able to view more than 300(!) file types and extract meta data if the Yahoo Desktop Search plus extension pack is loaded, the list is really impressive:
http://desktop.yahoo.com/
http://desktop.yahoo.com/filetypes

Directory Opus can access the viewing abilities by its plugin "MultiView" since DO version 8.1. One has to point the plugin to the Stellent\filters directory and the fun begins.

A WDX and WLX plugin that would make use of these filters would be very welcome. :)

I agree ;-)

For developers: Two years ago (or three) I found in some download site a quickview plus 4.0 demo installer. As far as I remember, this installer comes with some info about OutSideIn tecnology and their plugin description for developers.

I may try to implement it.
But where are links for developers (API, sample sources)?

Regarding the links I have posted above, I think that they are part of the evaluation version. Other info I don't have unfortunately.

I was wrong. Sorry. There isn't such info on quickviewplus 4.0 trial installer. Last night I've been searching in some old drives, I found qvptrw16.exe and qvptrw32.exe (16 and 32 bits versions) and there isn't this info. :-(
Otherwise, I remember some doc talking about developing a plugin for quickviewplus, maybe was with earlier release, 3.0?

I think the best and quick aproach is to ask to Dopus developer team how they make their plugin ;-)

I have a question: are Yahoo Desktop Search and Stellent filters different products or YDS uses Stellent filters or what?
Need I check both links, or Stellent links are the only that nessesary?
PS. I already requested Stellent eval. version.

YDS installs and uses the Stellent filters, Quick View Plus also does but YDS is free. The Stellent site is not really attractive for non techies so I have also posted the Yahoo links which are better suited to give a quick overview.
