Thumbnails are slow

Post by *majkinetor »

I have a major problem with thumbnails, no matter what kind of lister plugin I use. I am currently using SGViewer. I was also using XNView, IrfanView, Imagine, Thumbs plugin.

In Explorer speed is at least 10 times faster.
In Thumbnails TC conifg, I keep defaults.

The speed of display is also not depending of frequency of use.

1. Use the Explorer method.
2. Try to purge the thumbnail database.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Or install the ijl15.dll like mentioned in SGView Readme to enhance jpeg speed.

And you will be able to see boolet time, real time.

:) Good evening,

- You could try to play with the INI entry below (from the Help and Tutorial) :
[Configuration]
ThumbnailPrealloc=100000
Sets number of bytes to pre-allocate when creating the thumbnails database to avoid fragmentation.
The thumbnail database is an OLE compound document similar to a Word .doc file.
Without preallocating memory at creation time, such files would become terribly fragmented especially on NTFS disks.
- Here, no problem about the speed of the thumb-nails display, using XnView as thumb-nails provider and that entry…
- XP-Pro - P4 @2.44 GHz - 512 MB RAM - TC 6.53 - XnView 1.80.3

{ Aside : Though I don't moderate that forum, I guess that SanskritFritz is not wrong… Even if I like the humour, even a bit acidic, I think you are too often out the limits of the politeness and of the forum rules… Just a private remark… }

:mrgreen: Regards,
Claude

Don't take it too seriously. It was all joking more or less. I am acctually a very nice person. :wink:

Apologies taken ;-)
As you can see, we are more than willing to help, and we appreciate your help very much. But we are most probably at least 20 years older than you are, so we sometimes are more sensitive to that kind of humour. Maybe we could adjust a little too, young man :-)

@ SanskritFritz

How did you get an impression that I am a young man ?!
You see, sanskrit, you are old how much you think you are.
As I can see, you consider yourself very old. Too old for some thing that can make your life feel better and too old for your eyes to work correctly. Your judge is your personal taste acctually, but you don't make such distinction.... preconception.

Tell me what you do in your life sans ?
