In Need of FTP Fix

Why am I unable to "move" files while transferring from the FTP Server?

Whenever I use the F6 (Move/Rename) key to "move" files that I have selected off of the FTP server, all it wants to do is rename the files, it won't allow me to move them. I can, however, use the F5 (Copy) key to copy them over, and then I have to go back and re-select all the files again to delete them.

This gets really burdensome when I have tens-of-thousands of files to transfer.

Anything you can do about this?

A "Move" feature for FTP is very dangerous. There is no reliable feedback from the FTP server whether the transmission was 100 % successful or not.

Only a message like "copied successful" which means : "I got something that I hope you have send"

BTW: That is the reason for using MD5 checksums !

Even 1 byte difference makes most of the files invalid and therefore useless.

This means in case of a move, you copy the file to the FTP server and delete the original file in one step.
Worst case you now have an existing but invalid file on the FTP Server and a valid but deleted local file.

Same is valid for FTP to FTP file move ...

My apologies Black Dog, didn't quite understand what you meant there, I understand what you were getting at now.

Alternative is to Click on Mark > Restore Selection
