Slightly OT : looking for a tool i downloaded and lost
OK i know this is a complete shot in the air, but this is the only place i can think of where it makes any sense to ask:
I was following the thread on "must-have-tools-to-extend-TC" ... (a few days ago) .... at least i THINK that is how i got started.
Anyhow, i stumbled on this tool that would display information about your computer, on the desktop background. Things like IP and windows version and stuff like that i guess. It could also apply this on top of a wallpaper.
The only problem is, i dont know where i donwloaded the tool, i havent installed it yet, and i cant find it. So. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd be very happy to find it again.
Maybe i followed some of the webpages concerning text editors. i Dont know. the web works in mysterious ways.

Since I seem to download files into about a dozen different places, I lose them too. I just use the search function (*.zip and/or *.*) with a time limiter as close a I can recall. Of course, sometimes I have to do it over several drives.

Re: eureka!
Amazing! I've just edited my background to display some of that info, and here is a software that does just that. This forum answers my questions even without me asking them :)sybariten wrote:Ok people i know you've been busy looking all over the web, but you can stop worrying, i found the archive.

Well, it sounds to me like it could only be one of two programs.sybariten wrote:Anyhow, i stumbled on this tool that would display information about your computer, on the desktop background. I'll rather say admin's must have tool, like almost any other one from Bryce and Mark :).
BTW, I suggest you to run it on startup with "/timer:0" parameter.[/face]

Re: Slightly OT : looking for a tool i downloaded and lost
Hehe if you read above, i found the tool shortly after i posted the question. Yeah i've seen samurize, i reckon it can do exactly this.... if i remember correctly though its one of those multiple-use-tools, and in this case i thought it was cool with a tool that did only this.Innuendo wrote:Well, it sounds to me like it could only be one of two programs.sybariten wrote:Anyhow, i stumbled on this tool that would display information about your computer, on the desktop background. Well, if you don't want to see for example several months old workstation IP instead of current one, this is obligatory parameter and the only way to use BGinfo, actually :).[/face]

Informative Screen Saver
This is an informative screen saver for a server (or any machine for that
matter). I am running it on 2000 Adv. Server and 2003 Ent. Server. Once
installed on a machine, you can copy the uptime.scr file to other machines
w/o installing it (you just can't configure it, but the default look is OK).
