[REQ] New catalog plugin

I think we need new cataloging plugin. I use DiskDir and it is preaty good but also very limited in current stage, and author don't update it frequently so waiting for DiskDir to become is not in my definition of computer usage.

So, I think everybody should isue here things he find useful or missing in todays solutions. And if anybody comes to idea to develop such thing he should look at this place first.

How should this plugin look like. What functions etc... If you post some great idea I will add it at the end of the list

Abilities:

• - adding content plugin information in the list
  - adding whole files to the list, like pictures and short infos.
  - listing various archive formats
  - adding another catalog to the list
  - merging with other catalogs
  - external commands for extraction and upload to list (ie make thumbnails out of jpgs, make jpges out of bmps, make html out of diz)
  - content plugin tween for this packer plugin which can help in searches or even be able to show or hide some columns while inside the list.
  - export to HTML, CVS and other formats.

Maybe FS plugin is better idea for this.

EDIT: Hm... I guess not after visiting the site... its name is missleading, I thought it is for cddb. I was playing with it a little and I must say I don't like this one, because it is basicly the Viewer inside TC - every operation open its own GUI so I can't use regular TC functions.

Also, once added I didn't find solution to extend the list....
Also, how can I see thumbnails of images not any more on HD except if I do the export ?

I have been using CDDatabase for a long time, and i like it very much. It's all i need for my tasks. I agree that he is not as powerfull as other single Catalog programs, but it has the main features to Catalog my CD, DVDs. And the best of all, it is integrated with TC.

The main feature i miss is the ability to save data from content plugins into the database. This feature would improve a lot the functionality of CDDatabase. But i think this is only possible if FS plugins could show content plugin data, which is not possible yet.

Maybe FS plugin is better idea for this.

- Retrieve IMDB data for a particular AVI file, to manage a DIVX,DVD collection.

Also, how can I see thumbnails of images not any more on HD except if I do the export ?

CDDatabase has an option to save the files with a specific extension and maximum size into the database. I know it is not the same thing as viewing the thumbnails, but it's better than nothing.

I would like something like Advanced Disk Catalog integrated as a TC FS plugin.

In fact, I would need the plugin to import my current ADC catalog (I've lost some CDs, and I want to be able to know what was stored in).

Well, people, you are missing the point here !

This is not to be some cddb or imdb interface.... ok.. maybe with plugins of some kind


The main thing is that you have CD or DVD or files somewhere on the disk and you want to store them. U need to have ability to select which files to store as text and which to "upload" in whole (somekind of option box in which u can specify *.diz or *.jpg, with eventual preprocessing - for instance for thumbnails...)
