Folder unsorting in XP

I am unable so view the unsorted physical order of folders
In windoze 98 I can open a dos window and use DIR cmd
but not XP it allways sorts first numerically then alphabetically.
I need to see the correct order unsorted as my mp3 player
reads the physical order as dos DIR cmd shows.
Can this be done ?? If so how??

Make sure that Configuration - Options - Display - Sorting directories is set to Like files (also by time). Then Ctrl-F7 in the file list.

Still no joy . I tried using delphi directry listbox in a simple pgm,
it seems the api call allways sorts in XP ! I use nero to burn cd
then wincmd to verify actual order , only with win98 do I get the
correct order.I have tried using usb flash drive, but also cannot
get the correct order with XP . The only acurate method is to use
win98 dos window and dir cmd.
