Donate money
I've used Total Commander now for several years now. I wonder if it is possible to donate money to the project (other than buying the software several times, which costs unnecessary shipping & handling fees)?
Thanks in advance!

namon

Re: Donate money
There's no donation scheme available for Total Commander.namon wrote:I wonder if it is possible to donate money to the project (other than buying the software several times, which costs unnecessary shipping & handling fees)?
I'm not sure though what you mean by "buying the software several times".
For the time being (and this is for over a decade now) there's only a one-time
free (purchase) and all future upgrades are completely free. No shipping and
handling available after the initial purchase but the downloadable updates will
patch your already registered version legally.

When I bought my license (don't recall when this was) I both got a downloadable license-key-file and a CD with the software and license-key by mail.
Is it then possible to buy the software as a gift? To register the software to someone else, but still purchasing with my credit card?
Thank you for your fast reply.
Sincerely,
namon

Yes, it is. Send your request to sales at ghisler dot com.namon wrote:Thank you, djk.
I still wonder if it's somehow possible to give away a TC license as a gift. Although it's slightly out of topic in this thread.

In fact there is no donation scheme. Believe me, we (my brother and I = C. Ghisler & Co.) earn enough with new registrations so we don't need to charge for updates.
What if you cannot afford the TC licence? We tolerate the use of the unregistered version by private users who cannot afford the program. However, we expect that companies who make real money buy the software when they use it, and also private users who can afford it (where the licence wouldn't take a big part of the salary, as in some countries of eastern Europe or Asia now). This isn't yet written in the licence in the program, but will be written there in the near future.

Indeed I have studied Physics, Math and Computer Science, while my brother has studied economy, so we form a good team.
