Not easy... There is 3-5 times speed-up in browsing by Viewer. Much less flickering.
But it was! I've just downloaded the movie and saw exactly what I was imagining. I even dunno how could I do this :lol:

You mean Viewer must autodetect file codepage and switch to OEM if file is OEM?
Exactly, that's what lister pretends to do when set to automatic mode.
If yes, it's hard to do, because mode detection will fail in most cases (for most NFO files).
A simple approach could be to check for repetition of characters. I have no clue how original lister tries to do it, but I can safely tell that it has NEVER worked here, not even one single time in several years. I actually doubt that it works at all in lister.

But, maybe an even better and easier approach would be to switch to OEM for certain file types like NFO and DIZ, maybe but not necessarily configurable by the user?

Ok, I'll try to do smth. I'll see how FAR does it.

Send me please pack of NFO/TXT files to test autodetection with (in both ANSI and OEM pages!).

I can't remember a bug report for that, probably I got fed up with all the lister feature proposals ignored by ghisler and have chosen to just stick with DAMN NFO Viewer.

Who told you that I don't like it?

Anyway:
I am happy about every app I can replace with a better and more universal approach.

The only good thing better than in lister is the ability to click links, but as it lacks custom fonts it's not really a gem for me.

I like Damn NFO viewer. IT is fast, and I don't need custom fonts. The other thing I use is TC plugin but it has buggy localization, like SynPlus and always turn back to Russian.....

:) Not so fancy, this exists i.e. in the XnView Options, and it's very handy to remember the colour-set, especially when you have several versions, but not only…
- You can get a clue on THIS IMAGE - just a part - All colour-choice buttons are such as in XnView (and others…).

To-do list:

minor:

- option "Auto-copy text to clipboard" in text modes

- auto-detection of OEM codepage for text files;
special font for OEM codepage

major:

- Implement Text mode without using RichEdit.
RichEdit will be used only for displaying RTF.

- "Auto-refresh file when changed on disk" option;
"Follow log tail" option

Maybe I'll make buttons colored.
