@ghisler(Author)
Different background colors aren't currently implemented, but I will consider it.
Please notice that all programs of this kind have such option. This is an absolutely must be feature.

Other useful addons that could be included:

Overview strip
This gives you an immediate idea of the extent of the differences between the files being compared.
Each colour-coded mark on the strip represents a difference.
You can click on the overview strip to jump directly to particular change.

I second this.

 Please change the focus from button 'Compare' to 'Next Difference' if compare window open, because so i can use shortly the function 'Next Difference' with keyboard key 'enter'

[Request] Edit in compare tool

Post by *Sombra »

Hi :D
I think that could be a good feature in compare tool, introduce read mode only and Edit mode. (to edit directly in the compare window)

Is it possible? Is it planned?

I almost think it was a mistake to include a compare tool at all into TC. Just like an editor, this is something, where there are just plenty of great external ones. All we actually need is that TC provides a way to seamlessly bind a diff tool into TC (which will be the case in 7.0 AFAIK), and we all can use our favorite compare tool we like, just like an editor now. No one complains about TC's internal editor's lack of features, and there is a good reason for that ;-)

PS. Sombra, use WinMerge.

Hi SanskritFritz
Yes, I know winmerge and use it. In my system I have installed winmerge ;)
When I go to others PCs, and I need compare files, I can't download always a tool for compare (some times, Yes).
TC is a fast way that solve this problem for me. My USB stick is full of documents.
I like the idea of use external compare tools in the next version of TC. But the feature for edit directly too is good. You always could use the external tool, and the people choose the best solution for theirs :D

What exactly will be the next version (number) you are referring to? Is external compare tool available in beta version yet? This is something I need badly... :(

He meant the next major version - 7.0. The 6.55 that is in public beta stage is just a bugfix-release and will not contain any particular new features.

As they like to say, "it's out when it's ready". :D
Public-beta of 7.0 test is planned soon after final release of 6.55 (BTW, you could find it by yourself using the Search function).

Compare function

Post by *dexter@md »

Hi,

would be VERY usefull to have an option to save the differences to a specific file with options set by a checkboxes:
1. Include or not line numbers.
2. Include or not lines from source file
3. Include or not lines from destination files.

In case when 2 & 3 are on: first line is the source line, second line is destination line, 3rd - source, 4th - destination, etc.

In case that only one of 2 or 3 is on: save just the lines with the differences from the respective file only.

Usefull when compare text files.

Regards.

It would be very useful to include empty directories in Synchronize tool, I always endup without necessary dirs, or with excesive unnecesary dirs. Thanks.
