Versions 1.5.1 and 1.5.1.1 don't recognise UTF-8 files with marker while version 1.5.0 does. I'm bound to click «8» to read them correctly. :(

With UTF-8 files without marker even clicking «8», they are not displayed correctly ! :(

Not detected

:) Hello Paul !

I confirm, same behaviour here. I used the buttons of the tool-bar instead the menu-entries, but the bug is there anyway…
- The signed UTF8 files under XP-Pro are not detected.

For me it works. Can you please send me 2 such files and your Viewer.ini.

Edit:
Check that file extension is not in "Text:" list. If yes, then delete it from that list.

Parse=slower

:) Hi Alexeï !

• If you have <7Zip>, just view the language files… They are *.txt, but are signed UTF8.
- So, I cant' remove *.txt…
- Same issue with the *.lng files for TC-Pocket ! They are UNICODE, hence I can't remove *.lng…
- If I would do, all TXT and LNG will be parsed, and the viewer'll be globally slower…
Or did I miss something ?

• Else : The tool bar is a nice feature, but currently, the icons are not very explicit and visible for me (too grey and too small) :|
- Moreover, the bar is hard-coded, impossible to set any alternative bar…
- IMHO, you might plan the possibility to use 24² icons - even in the principle of an antiquated single bitmap-

No, it won't be slower. *.txt will be parsed, but parsing of first 2Kb of file (buffer size is configurable) is fast. So I strongly recommend to remove "txt" and "lng" from extensions list. :)

Simply note, that UTF-8 and Unicode autodetection works *only* when it's not overloaded by extensions-detection. So you *must* remove txt and lng from extensions lists.

I simply haven't 24x24 icons. I drawn half of icons by myself (I can redraw them to 24x24), but other half is ripped from Delphi (there wasn't 24x24 icons there)...

Which icons ?

Post by *Clo »

2Alextp

:) Hi again!

• Well, it works when removed from the list…
- However, the issue of the unsigned UTF8 that doesn't work even with the button¦menu command remains.

• About the tool bar : No reproach, indeed. I could draw the 24² icons to save time for you, this is not a big deal. And even 32² ones.
- The main issue is how do I draw them ?
*.ICO ?
*.BMP ? (I do prior, anyway) as separate pictures ?
*.BMP as a single global bitmap ? (With provisons…) In that case, is the order on the screen the same than on an eventual bitmap (it should… but i.e. in XnView, it is different !)

• Currently, we can't choose a tool-bar skin; moreover, the icons are nowhere to be found in the normal resources…:|

OK.

I know.. but I wrote about it in Readme: "UTF-8 files are supported only when they have signature".
This is misfeature of MS RichEdit: it supports only signed UTF-8 files. No way to tell him that file is in UTF-8 but signature, as I know.

Oh, really? Ok, good.

Ok, Clo, I'll send you icons in BMP format (separate pictures), after I'll test that it's possible to switch toolbar from 16x16 to larger icons.

Clo, they are in resources. :)
I can tell how to rip them by Restorator 2004, if you have it.

Hidden…

Clo, they are in resources.
I can tell how to rip them by Restorator 2004, if you have it.
- Neither in the resources when edited with Resource Hacker (a.k.a. "My little Finger") as *.ico or bitmap, nor in the EXE when viewed with XnView : Only the two icons of the programme which are alright in the resources… Hidden in the core ?
- No issue for me, though; just to draw : I made a screen shot and I got which functions have buttons in the bar…
- So, at night I'll begin a prototype as separate *BMP and *.ico, anyway I have both.
- If you want for a small ICL also, I could do too…

Yes. Restorator can rip them.

Note that icons must have "transparent" color around them. (Don't know, how transparent is stored in BMP. Maybe it's color of left-top pixel?)

All magenta (0xff00ff) pixels are transparent.

Edit: Ah well, this is only true for 256 bpp BMPs and only for programs who support it. TC doesn't, for example.

Yeah, this was a test. Sometimes I get the feeling that answers aren't read. ;)

8 bpp, yep. 256 bpp would probably knock out every graphics adapter. :)

No, your answers are just too strict to reply to them. :)
