Yes, USB sticks are indeed a problem, but only with Windows XP, not with Windows 2000 and older. Why? Microsoft were so "clever" to completely remove the write cache from USB sticks! Writing in blocks of 32kBytes (as tC does) seems to be terribly slow with some sticks, but not with all. Therefore TC tries to detect USB sticks and use compatibility mode with them.

This seems like a fairly opportune time to link back to this thread. If for no other reason, just to remind ghisler of it since it is now several months old.
I supposed you could call that a shameless bump. Or perhaps, rather, a rerequest for a much needed tool
In this case, including options for copy mode and which physical drive (i.e. not by drive letter, but perhaps by description). i.e. once you test an external drive, you can save its settings and give it a name "my 2GB USB..." Then the next time a 2GB USB is insterted you can tell TC "yeah, it's the same drive" or "My other 2GB USB..." etc.

Or not so completelyghisler(Author) wrote:Microsoft were so "clever" to completely remove the write cache from USB sticks!

Ambiguity succeeds where honesty dares not venture.
