[REQ] Drive letters in tabs...

Post by *icfu »

...should not be separated by a colon from tab title but some other char, maybe a pipe, to prevent confusion with a real path:
e:Download => e|Download

Also i would prefer to have drive letters always shown in UPPER CASE, not only in tabs but generally: path box, command line, tabs, drive buttons... In directory tree all drive letters are UPPER CASE too, much easier to be catched, I have to admit. What's the word? Consistence, right!

E:\Download
E|Download
E

UPPER/lower case should at least be made configurable.

:) Hello Jeff !

• Hum… The pipe is often an active character…
- What about a dashed pipe instead “¦” ?
…drive letters always shown in UPPER CASE…
ABSOLUTELY ! I SUPPORT !

Yeah, that's better, prevents confusion with backslash and drive letter I.

Maybe this is even better?

Well, nope, the # sucks. I withdraw that proposal.

So, my vote goes for your dashed pipe! Thanks for support! :)

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Indeed a good idea. So far I didn't use this option because I found it confusing. Using another character could change my opinion.

Yeah, me too ...

... but instead of the (dashed) pipe I would prefer the '>' character.

i.e.: E>Download

The > is a bad idea. Maybe there will filter specific tabs one day. This could be confusing.

I prefer the : because it's a real indication of a drive letter. Maybe I will make it configurable via an ini option, e.g. Driveparator=|

Check again how it looks with plugin titles like that... ;)
\Download

I add the backslash in front to be able to differentiate between real directory names and directory aliases.
As there is no space or other separator after the colon, the result looks extremely confusing.
Maybe I will make it configurable via an ini option, e.g. Driveparator=|
Great.

I didn't found any hint in the history. Is it scheduled until the final release?

05.11.06 Added: wincmd.ini [Configuration] TabSeparator=: sets different separator between drive letter and current directory name in tabs (default is a ":"). Only a single byte character is allowed!

Hmm, OK, but I mean the BIG Driveletters. And not only in TAB.
In separate tree you see them in UPPER CASE, in the drive combobox and the drive buttons are in lower case.
