Thanks for your findings! Only -1 and -2 should have special meanings, but it may be a remainder of the time when TC used 32-bit signed numbers for the sizes...

Fixed in 7.03.

This is interesting...
I've just had this bug in 7.50a version. Selecting directory by pressing space is not showing directory size.
I then tried it with a blank wincmd.ini file so that it gets created by TC 7.50a and it's still broken.
Then I reverted back to v6.53 which I had installed before upgrading to 7.50a yesterday and space selection is working ok there (also when I removed wincmd.ini file before starting, as well as with my previous wincmd.ini file).
But - on my other computer which I also upgraded from 6.53 to 7.50a this bug is not present. On the 2nd computer space select is showing dir size as expected.
Looks like this bug is dependent on code changes between versions 6.53 and 7.50a as well as on something else which is different between my two computers...
Any idea what to do next?
Is there an archive of older TC versions? I could try them incrementally to find out which one it got broken in, if needed...

Hello ! Welcome aboard !
• It does here…
1. Which INI files are really used via Help Menu >> About…
2. Then, check too in Configuration >> Option >> Operation
-----Calculate space occupied by subdirectories-----
[×] when selecting with the spacebar, the box must be ticked.
Kind regards,

Yes, it works on my other machine as well

Both are WinXP Pro btw...
1. INI files are in my home directory, as expected.
2. Calculate space [x] when selected with the space bar - is ticked.
Bug is still present, however.
EDIT:
I just tried to copy a large directory. TC did calculate space before copying and it was showing directory size instead of <DIR> for that directory only, but still no luck with space-select to show size.

Again…
• Just a thought…
- Any chance that the space-bar was remapped to any command in this PC
- You could check for that in Options >> Misc. >>
---------Redefine hotkeys (Keyboard remapping)----------

Space does select/unselect the directory and it is marked as selected but size is just not shown.

There is no need, this function will work in a completely different way (using a background thread) in TC 7.51.

Hi,
I have the same problem (not calculating folder sizes when pressing space bar).
I had version 7.50a when I started to troubleshoot the problem. I checked and I have the option:
Calculate space [x] when selected with the space bar - is ticked.
I Uninstalled 7.50a and installed the latest version, 7.55 and I still have the same problem.
I checked Win.ini and it has the line:
CountSpace=1
when I set "Calculate space [x] when selected with the space bar"
Is there a new version of Total Commander coming out soon?
Thank you.
Steven
