As far as thumbs works OK when you start TC with fresh ini then the problem is in your Wincmd.ini

Try the following:
1- Backup your daily work Wincmd.ini (to know where it is located, go to Help> About you will find its path under INI-File label)
2- Review thumbs settings and try to changes settings that you think it could be the source of the problem
3- Maybe you are using a plugin causing the problem, try to uninstall suspicious one.

Maybe you can tell us what was wrong in your wincmd.ini?

I have the same case.
I do not know how to solve the problem.

I tried this which was previously written.
I added WmfAllowed = 3 in the wincmd.ini in the part [Configuration].
With the new button.
With wincmd.ini deleted.
Try

+ I switch to Thumbnail View in Total Commander
+ In a random folder and JPG file is renamed to folder.jpg
+ I go to the parent folder of that folder

I watched the thumbs settings but dont know what to adjust on it which is connected with this.

I use TCUP not know whether it plays a role (installed in Program Files).
I tried the TC which I installed directly on C: / All I have repeated on a new TC instalation.
