 Sorry, it's too late probably.

Of course I haven't added the [Shortcuts] section to my wincmd.ini.
Now it works ok.

There's another way to check long filenames: cm_VerticalPanels. It's handy for keyboard users.

:D  Hello,
• Right, I even wrote a note like this for very numerous drives too in the Tutorial...
:?   But except long names and numerous drives, I think it's much less handy at all - maybe the habit of classic layout? -
 Kind regards

You guys really seem to enjoy discussions :)
I agree with DJK on using keyboard only - mouse is just too slow.
And about voice commands, they are even slower.
Once I thought about creating a voice operated extension for my IDE, but after some thinking I realized that 'speaking' C/C++/Java would be terribly slow.
As long as someone doesn't invent 'thought commands' the keyboard will (probably) stay the fastest input method. For text-based applications, of course - I can't imagine using a drawing program with keyboard only :)

But back to long filenames - there is another option no one mentioned here, and AFAIR it was available in FAR or DosNavigator (yes, I remember those:) ). It's a single-panel in the entire window. Or does TC already have it and I missed something again?

:D Hello
mouse is just too slow.

• It's your opinion ... We are on 2004. Moreover, someones cannot use only the keyboard - like me- because a light handicap...
:?:   Show me how you do Drag& Drop files with a keyboard! Also, you get always dialogs, many times useless...
• For the same job along a day, it is NOT faster. Do you think that thousands boys and girls working in offices and so with TC remember one hundred shortcuts? They use a mouse.
• We are here less than 5% of registered users of TC. Don't think that all others are our clones!

• Finally: I've free time: I'm retired
 Regards

Well, I agree that for some people mouse may be a better choice.
Maybe I should have written 'Mouse is just too slow for me' ? :)
And besides, I just know most of the shortcuts I need, hence pressing 1-3 keys is faster for me than moving my hand to the right, moving a cursor, pressing some buttons and returning to keyboard ;)
Actually, I know people that use 'normal' Windows GUI (Explorer) with keyboard only, and they are more or less as fast with it as I am with TC :)
Well, let's not start a flame-war about it - let's agree that it depends on the user, right? :)

ps. Looking at your number of posts, you really have lot of free time :)

FAR is present-day 32-bit OFM, very "professional" one with great plugin API and biggest plugins library exists in FM world (you can use some of them with Commander). So if something available in FAR, it IS (not was) available.[/face]
