Well, nobody wants to clear the list when the dialog is just closed by pressing ESC. But it would make sense to clear the list - and keep it cleared - after pressing the "New search" button since the user expressed a wish to initiate a new search which can be interpreted as "discard the results". OTOH the button's function is a little strange, clearing/hiding the results and nothing else, so why bother using it at all when the same can be achieved by just starting a new search (optionally with new search parameters)? BTW, I've never used this button.

But if he did not perform the search, then it's logical to interpret this as a rejection (refusal) of a new search.since the user expressed a wish to initiate a new search which can be interpreted as "discard the results".

That's how I would see it too. And I'm in favor of displaying the existing data even when pressing "new search", so that you don't have to decide how the search will look when you close it when you reopen it again , which can save a lot of time...Fla$her wrote: 2024-12-16, 14:04 UTC But if he did not perform the search, then it's logical to interpret this as a rejection (refusal) of a new search.

It is actually not just the "Feed to listbox" button that is disabled - it is also the buttons: "F3 view" and "F4 Edit" - they shouldn't be disabled either, since F3 and F4 keypress does work.

Re: The "Feed to listbox" button is inactive if the results are displayed when opening the "Find Files" dialog
What bothers me is the fact that when you close it(!) you decide what will happen the next time you open it. This is often very inconvenient and time-consuming.

This should be fixed in RC3, please test it!
15.12.24 Fixed: Find files, Start search, New search, ESC, re-open search -> old results were still there, but most buttons at the bottom were disabled (32/64)
