Ah now it works - but now I have one silly last question:
Why should I use this tool when the Configuration Editor
(ultra tc editors) is more comfortable for editing the wincmd.ini ? :D
TIA :D

First goal---

:) Well, well! First, we didn't think specially to you and to a use in TC for that tool, but simply to help Pierre-E. Gougelet for planning the addition of extra INI-entries in XnView for “everyone”; this doesn't exist yet -officially-, only a pinch of ultra-secret entries exists for servers or so… :P
- In TC, it can be useful for those who don't wish to install the "Ultra TC editors" (I don't use it, it's a bit "gasworks" by now…)

Good evening Claude.

After adjusting the path of the inifile and copying the 'TC_INI_entries.txt ' (what the installer did not) it works here fine, too. Maybe the installer should ask for the path to the ini files or better: If the program cannot find the ini files it should ask the user (instead of the error message.

Ohterwise it is a nice program (although I also prefer the Ultra TC Editors ;) )

Kind regards

Stefan

:) Hello Stefan!
- Thanks!
- Henri and I had just a brainstorming session to define the improvements in another building later; the files to use as reference and to change could be chosen like you say at the install time, or better from a small Option-box >> Browse…, hence they could be changed at any time, I guess it's more flexible …
What do you think ?

Merci CLO+Henri for this nice little application, the added value in my case is the TC_INI_entries_fr with in depth explainations.

2Clo Have you already advertised in the french forum for user reading only this one ?

2> Clo & Henri (new competitors  )
it is nice tool but it needs lots of improvment to be easy to use.

did you know UTC Configuration Editor can be used with any other INI-file not only for Wincmd.ini and wcx_ftp.ini as follow:
1- Create the data file for the desired INI-file (read the help for the structure of the data files)
2- run UTC Configuration Editor and go to File> Open Data File... and open the file created in step 1
3- go to File> Open... and open the desired INI-file

the bad thing is that you have to open the desired INI-file each time the program start because it always start with te default TC wincmd.ini file

In progress

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !
- There is a version @ home (w.i.progress) which'll allow to choose any reference and any text file (INI or similar) and a few more…
- Like I told first in that thread, the original goal was to create a very simple tool for XnView, where the addition of INI entries by hand doesn't exist yet officially… :!:
- Browsing that article, you can see that someone objected that is hard to do { }, then Paul Vansusmsen-Ouistiti thought to such a tool, in order to remove that objection…
:D No competition, it could be useful for newbies here, as a simple light soft to begin learning the large INI capabilities in TC…

  Kind regards,
Claude

2.0 version ---

Post by *Clo »

 All

:) Good evening,

- The improved version 2.0 of the "Add-ini" tool is available ! Same links than above.
• New in that version :
- Option page at the first start-up time, then from the local menu,
- All settings in that Option dialogue,
- Separate languages file : English, Dutch (thanks to Paul) French, German; other languages can be added, just create a section [My_New_language] and translate from another existing one…
Note : all completed / corrected / languages file will be welcome, thanks ;)
- "Start" button allowing to start TC (or any other program to which the file to change belongs)…
- Please, read the “Lire_ReadMe.txt” file for more info…
- Thanks to Henri and Paul for this brainwave and its realization !

 Kind regards,
Claude

:) Hello Peter!

- It works for me here with Maxthon… Did you try via copy / paste directly on the browser address-bar?
¤ But that folder is not updated, we kept it only to recover the (eventually) needed French VB6 stuff in the CAB…
- The new 2.0 version is available only as a simple ZIP…

You can download it here if you wish
add-ini_tc.zip

@Clo

When I try to run the new release I get this error :

Erreur d'exécution '383':
Propriété 'Text' en lecture seule

Any idea what I'm doing wrong ?

I had the same message when I used the old "ini"...

With version 1 the french language was «Francais», with the version 2 it is «Français»... so try to correct into the ini "Langue=Français "

Français with "ç" solved the problem.

Thanks
