I cannot ask him about your issue about ICC profiles myself, since I don't know what it is about, hence cannot explain the problem.
No, I informed him that there were recent posts about other issues.Did you have the opportunity to clarify with author the question about the application's support for ICC profiles in pictures?

A normal photo is how we should see a person, an abnormal photo is THAT how viewer programs show this photo WITHOUT support of the ICC-profile in parsing code. And the third photo - actually a photo with an embedded ICC-profile record - for testing the capabilities of viewer programs.
For example, in any modern browser, the first and third photos should look exactly the same, because. In browser code, this support should have been implemented a long time ago in order to support web design standards.
But ok. Thanks for your support and trying to help. Let's hope that the author nevertheless turns his attention to this problem.
This is a little scary. It seemed to me that the link to the site that I provided is completely transparent and elementary shows the fact that if a certain ICC-profile is embedded in the body of the photo, then you need to display colors and saturation when viewing this photo, taking into account the data from this profile! Otherwise, it may turn out to be nonsense. And there are three pictures on the site showing it clearly.since I don't know what it is about

I've found this bug on another forum and confirm that too.
Just try any to open 32-bit image and then reduce colors to 8 or 4 bits. Image becomes transparent 100%.
Any solution there?

You can easily remove the transparency layer by either pressing the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl+Shift+T] or by accessing the right-click menu and navigating to Image > Transparency > Remove transparency.MaxX wrote: 2023-08-12, 15:25 UTC Just try any to open 32-bit image and then reduce colors to 8 or 4 bits. The essence of the bug is that this transparency appeared without the active desire of this from the user!
Nothing like this should happen with the selected operation of changing the bit depth of the picture.
Older versions of the program do not have this bug.

Agreed, that is my understanding too. MaxX asked for any solution, so I provided one, although it's just a workaround.AntonyD wrote: 2023-08-12, 17:30 UTC The essence of the bug is that this transparency appeared without the active desire of this from the user! Interesting, I didn't know that. Can you tell which version of Imagine isn't affected by this?
Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.1.6
Last not affected version is 1.0.9
Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.1.6
The last not affected version is v. 1.0.9 from September 20th 2012
The first affected version is v.1.0.9 from September 28th 2012
So version 1.0.9 final from December 2nd 2012 has the problem.

Heheh))
Maybe you can again send some reports to author? Because AFAIK people from 2 other forums already tried to make it - and failed.
Author looks like created very limited list of people who are allowed to his e-box.

Re: Imagine (Lister plugin for viewing img files) v. 1.1.6
Can anyone send 2 emails for developer?
1. The bugreport with 32bit images and transparency after downsampling.
2. The request to add JPEG-XL support.
JPEG-XL is more useful then regular JPEG and could be losslessly converted as jpg<->jxl with no data loss and re-compression of bitmap.
