I think, this is a necessity because the new icons in the listbox are IMO totally ugly (mainly on Windows 2000 in comparison with the other icons like DLL, TXT etc)!

You can already change the icons displayed in the file list (and drivebar) in WINCMD.INI

Surely the look of the new icons is also a matter of taste, but I designed them to have a bit more modern look than those in ol' Win2k. But as I said, you can change the icons already if you don't like them.
Code: Select all
[Configuration]
IconLib=c:\totalcmd\iconlib.icl
drivelib=c:\totalcmd\Drivebar.dll

i think he knows that.
i also suppose that the '[Configuration]
IconLib=whatever.icl' command is on of the most used ini-file settings, so i really would appreciate a integration in the regular options-dialogue like suggested above.

Ahh, I didn't know this!You can already change the icons displayed in the file list (and drivebar) in WINCMD.INI
Is there a smaller icon file available, so that I don't have to use the "large" totalcmd.exe of version 6.x?
That's right. But wouldn't it be better, if you use the system's icons for BAT, EXE (without own icon) and other unassociated file types?Surely the look of the new icons is also a matter of taste

XP's icons can't legally be used in another application AFAIK, so TC is shipped with its own icons.
IIRC correctly there exist some technical issues preventing to use the curent OS's icons in the file lists.
Look hereIs there a smaller icon file available, so that I don't have to use the "large" totalcmd.exe of version 6.x?
Well, TC has always used his internal icons for unregistered filetypes etc. in the file list. The icons used until now (and those in the above lib) were taken by the author from some older Windows version, as they can be used royalty free.But wouldn't it be better, if you use the system's icons for BAT, EXE (without own icon) and other unassociated file types?

OK, this is not bad, butStickyNomad wrote:Look here
Quote from the readme.txt:
"On hicolor or truecolor screens, Totalcmd will have 256 color icons for folders, archives AND the main (floppy disk) icon."
Is there a truecolor library avaiable?
That's a pitty, because that would be the best solution IMO.StickyNomad wrote: IIRC correctly there exist some technical issues preventing to use the curent OS's icons in the file lists.

I think you misunderstood the statement you quoted from the readme a bit. This doesn't mean TC is limited to 256 colors, but is capable of showing 256 or more color icons on high-/truecolor depth. This Lib is quite a few years old, when there mainly 16-color icons were the status quo...
Sure. You can check for example the well-known TC plugins and resources-page totalcmd.netIs there a truecolor library avaiable?

OK, will look there later.StickyNomad wrote:2DalaiSure. You can check for example the well-known TC plugins and resources-page totalcmd.netIs there a truecolor library avaiable?
I quoted the statement because the icons from the ICL look different than those from the v6 EXE. The archive icons are a little bit red instead of fully yellow.StickyNomad wrote: I think you misunderstood the statement you quoted from the readme a bit. So I assumed that the lib is not really truecolor.

Looked, but didn't find anything that looks like the icons used in TC6.StickyNomad wrote:2Dalai

The Object icons TC WinClassic 0.8 are not really classic, the download of TCIcons 1.0 is broken and the rest is more like xp or office 2k3.
Oh, btw, the ICL you mentioned and linked above is really 8 bit! Thats why it looks a bit ugly on truecolor monitor.
Anyway, thanks to StickyNomad for the note on IconLib option in INI file!
