Switching on unicode flag in compare by content produces garbage with all my utf-8 coded files.
Unicode is meant for UTF-16, not UTF-8! UTF-8 is currently not supported in Compare by content function.

I know that, but I was talking about the meaning of the corresponding checkbox in TC, not in general.Hakarien wrote:Well, according to Unicode and ISO/IEC 10646, utf-8 utf utf-16 and utf-32 are ... unicodes.
I personally don't agree to it (UTF-8 is the most inconvenient Unicode format I've ever seen!), but it doesn't matter here. It has already been requested many times that TC supported UTF-8 in Compare by content, but there are some technical difficulties. Use Search and you'll find the requests themselves and Ghisler's replies to them.Hakarien wrote:which is a pity since utf-8 is most spread nowadays.

• I just tried to set :I just said than then the corresponding checkbox in TC should then be labeled UTF-16
It's displayed (using a narrow complete font and the English LNG). There is room enough even with Tahoma 8, normal.6206="&Unicode¦UTF16"
