Probelmm with TC7 Help on Vista

Hello

Im hafe a smal problemm with the help of tc7 on vista (Final Version vrom MSDN), but im not shure ad is the rigth topic for the bug / request /.. also im not shure if i are the first how reortet the problem. And accualli ist not a bug of TC but im think MS wil not change tere vista

When i open the help (f1) in TC7.0pb2 i receve following message:

"Why can't I get Help from this program?

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which was used in previous versions of Windows and it is not supported in Windows Vista.

For more information, see Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) is no longer included with Windows on the Microsoft support website."

Unfortunately, Vista does not support 32-bit HLP (but still supports 16-bit HLP, though in general the support for 16-bit programs is dropped! An incredibly wise idea! ). So, you either need 16-bit HLP file (original TC help is 16-bit, BTW, so it should work), or use CHM file instead.

I find that Vista have some nice gadgets but , no support for normal help files is discusting, did the dont use ther Bains in redmond ??

but Accually the benefits of windows Vista are still there

(Pls Note: this is my Opinion and i downt wanth to hurt some weher)

That's strange, I'm explicitly calling the old winhelp.exe on Vista, which has been present even when winhlp32.exe has been removed. I haven't tried with Vista final yet, though, I'm waiting for the MSDN DVD to arrive...

Strange, but it seems that MS did not include winhelp.exe into Vista x64 (at least, I could not find it), but it present (and working) in Vista x86.
Tested both final versions under VMware.

Ah, I see - that's sad. I'm waiting with the move to HTML help until the author of HelpScribble updates it to work better with IE7/Vista.

Would be nice to move to HTML Help because currently you cannot search on a help page with Ctrl+F.

I doubt it is possible. I tried to handle Esc with JavaScript, but hh.exe does not allow to close the help window silently, it shows a message box instead ("Wanna close? Yes/No").
However, I have not investigated the problem very deeply, maybe there is some way that I missed.

In this case, Alt+F4 is even faster. But Esc is more usual way to close the help window.
