Can only Access "All Users" (Vista)

Post by *HighCloud1 »

TC 7.0 RC1
Windows Vista Home Premium

Firstly: Apologies, I put, by mistake, two items in the message. I SHOULD know better...

My item 2 was replied to, so here is a repeat of item 1:

1) c: directory and I can only see in Documents and Setting "All Users" and not my own.

In the Windows Explorer I can see my files.

Thanks!

The place where windows stores the user profile (and the users documents) is changed with Vista.
Only the "All user" path is stored inside "C:\Documents and settings\" root folder.

To locate your own documents navigate to
C:\Users\{Your username}\
This is the place where Vista stores the data for your account.

Alternately you can try (from TC's command line):
cd %userprofile%\My Documents
or open the desktop folder with
cm_OpenDesktop
and navigate to "My documents"

I am not sure about the last two tips ( I don't run Vista @ home), so please test this by your own.

HTH,
Holger

Holger,
Thanks! I was so used to click "Documents & Settings" that I overlooked the "Users".

VISTA:
Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options
[ ] Hide extensions for known file types
[x] Show hidden files and folders

Total Commander:
Configuration -> Options -> Display -> File display:
[x] Show hidden/system files (for experts only!)

If you can see the folder in Explorer, click into its addressbar -field (Breadcrumb Navigation) and enter the path into TCs "Current Directory" by copy&paste. You can also store them as a bookmark in the directory hotlist.
