TC7 doesn't remember main window size and position

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC7 doesn't remember main window size and position

Post by *sebabar »

TC7 always starts with main window in the same position and size, regardless of its parameters on last close/save position command. Size is quite weird - something about 200x150.

[Screenshot would have appeared here if I had been allowed to post it.. :wink: ]

Bug seems to exists in all TC7 versions.

Windows XP Pro SP2 English, two monitor configuration (Hydravision), nonstandard XP Visual Style

Best regards,
Sebastian

Thanks for your welcome message :-)

Well.. I must admin I haven't looked for hydravision here before. Now I see there are few threads about it. Unfortunatelly I don't speak German :-(

Only one thread in English suggests that the newest Hydravision drivers solve the problem. I have Hydravision-3-25-0006 (the newest available), and still experience this problem.
I also think it has something to do with multimonitor drivers (that's why I mentioned about my 2-monitor configuration), but other programs don't behave in such strange way.

I will experiment with different settings of hydravision though. Thanks for suggestion :-)

2sebabar: I had a similar problem with a very old graphic card.

I used following workaround:
- Size your TC according to your needs
- Maximize TC
- Configuration -> Save Position

Now your TC will always start maximized ...but clicking once on the Restore button to release the maximized size ... and you got your favorite size.

Might be a problem with the 1 - 2 - 3 Nagscreen in hydravision.
The registered version will not show it with this setting in wincmd.ini:

[Configuration]
StartupScreen=0

I use registered version. I removed key for testing purposes. Both registered and unregistered versions behave the same :( (also with ini entry you mentioned).

But I have found out that disabling "Application Position Memory" in Hydravision prefs makes TC appear ok! I have no idea so if this is Hydravision bug or TC is somehow incompatible with this setting. I've also found that lister suffers for the simillar problem - it "likes" to open on the second monitor, even TC is on the first one. I tried "save position" in lister and disabling above option in Hydravision, but it still sometimes opens not the way it should ;)

Maybe it has something to do with my desktop layout? I have windows taskbar on the secondary monitor.

Indeed that's the bug in Hydravision: It stores the coordinates of the splash screen, but sets them to the main window when TC is started. I really don't understand why these people can't get it right, the two windows clearly have different classes and titles...

Not a TC bug - should be moved into "Behaviour which will not be changed"?
Flint's Homepage: Full TC Russification Package, VirtualDisk, NTFS Links, NoClose Replacer, and other stuff!
