Personally I make very often use of the file attributes.
Suggestion:
Isn't it possible to switch the attribute on and off by just double clicking on it?
Examples:
-a-- : double clicking on the second dash gives: ----
---- : double clicking on the first and second dash gives: ra--
and so one.
Changing attribute by double clicking on it

CA+A=cm_SetAttrib
After that select file(s) and Ctrl+Alt+A (or others) to change attributes easy and confortable.
I recommand you also to install WDX plugins ATTRIBUTE.

With all respect but I already use your proposed solution(s).
The point is that I want to keep it so simple as possible to change the attributes of one file. It 's just a matter of comfort and time.
I'm sorry but this is not a satisfatory alternative for my suggestion.
