big files display wrong filesize in packed files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

big files display wrong filesize in packed files

Post by *jom »

This applies to large files (e.g. 8gb) which have been compressed by 7zip into .7z files.

Using the normal commander window to view the .7z file, the details of the compressed file is wrong - the displayed filesize is too small.

For example a 7.9 gb file containing random data which has been stored in a .7z of the same size, shows a filesize of only 3.8gb. When trying to extract using total commander, it completes about 50% of the extraction before returning an extraction error.

.7zip uses the old TC 6.x plugin inteface, which supports a maximum of 4 GB (32 bit unsigned number). TC7 supports additional functions to read larger sizes.
