[BUG]Upper/lowercase drivename in CTRL+SHIFT+Enter
Although i don't really like doing this, i'll report that bug just for the shake of uniformity in TC.
When pressing CTRL+SHIFT+Enter on a filename, TC transfers it in the command line but the drive letter is in capital form ( C: ). It should probably be in low-case form ( c: ) in order to follow the general rule established in TC7.
I still believe that all (or perhaps some) of these should be configurable. I don't really like capitals on tabs but if there was a TC setting that made TC handle all drive occurrences uniformly, i would gladly set it to capital just to be able to use the filenames on the command line and in the clipboard with capital letters. I really hate it as is now. If it was at least considered to be configurable for the command line and the clipboard...

Well, Windows is not case-sensitive regarding drive letters, so it's only a question of what looks better for the user. But indeed it would be more uniform to change it lowercase in this function too.

Please don't implement such junk but give the user an option to have ALL drive letters UPPERCASE or all driveletters lowercase, thruout the complete program please.
This has been requested several times already. The separate trees show UPPERCASE, the panels show lowercase besides they have the tree activated, and so on...

I'm not so sure this would stop users from nagging about this matter. If such a thing was implemented, there might be users that would say "but i don't like upper/lowercase here, i would like 1000 settings, one for each occurrence of the drive letter". Perhaps Christian is afraid such a thing might happen.icfu wrote:Please don't implement such junk but give the user an option to have ALL drive letters UPPERCASE or all driveletters lowercase, thruout the complete program please.
Anyway, as i've already said, i support this idea.

Hello Jeff !
• I'm also in favour of UPPERCASE everywhere for the drive-letters.
- A single option to set them in all places could make me happy a lot !

Nothing prevents these users from requesting full flexibility already now. Anyway, I am sure that most people at least agree on the basic WYSIWYG principle:I'm not so sure this would stop users from nagging about this matter. If such a thing was implemented, there might be users that would say "but i don't like upper/lowercase here, i would like 1000 settings, one for each occurrence of the drive letter". Do not copy stuff to clipboard with a different case than displayed in the panel at that time!
So, even for the most demanding users – I am one of them I guess – it should be enough to have two INI settings:
TreeUppercase=1/0
TitlebarUppercase=1/0
This is not too much expected, I guess.

And what about tabs and drives list? Which setting they would follow? Some may want a different setting for them. Clipboard and command line? Which setting of the two you propose would follow?icfu wrote:So, even for the most demanding users – I am one of them I guess – it should be enough to have two INI settings:

IMHO it's not that simple but it's doable without much fuss.
I would vote for two settings like this:
VisualUppercase=1/0 (everywhere inside TC: tree, tabs, drivelist, filepanel, etc - default=0)
CommandLineUppercase=1/0 (command-line and clipboard - i.e interaction with other programs - default=1)

Tabs and drives list adhere to the panel titlebar setting. Choosing a lowercase letter from the list and having it displayed uppercase in titlebar but lowercase in tabs sounds weird to me.And what about tabs and drives list?
WYSIWYG, like explained above. If you need a different case for other programs, edit clipboard with separate application.Clipboard and command line? Which setting of the two you propose would follow?
So, you were talking about yourself when you assumed that ghisler would be afraid of users expecting too much. Now I understand what you mean.I would vote for two settings like this:

And why should the tree be any different?icfu wrote:Tabs and drives list adhere to the panel titlebar setting.
You were the one who proposed 2 settings in the first place, weren't you? I just re-arranged them.icfu wrote:So, you were talking about yourself when you assumed that ghisler would be afraid of users expecting too much. Now I understand what you mean.

Yep, as an answer to your statement that there might be users who wanted more flexibility. I tried to think about what option should please even those users who need more flexibility in this case and might be disappointed otherwise.You were the one who proposed 2 settings in the first place, weren't you?
I don't need this flexibility at all, I only need UPPERCASE for better readability, as you can read in my first answer in this thread, also in the request thread I made regarding this.
Because ghisler has invented it like that and probably likes it for whatever reason.And why should the tree be any different?

Great. So basically we agree and it seems that several others agree too. Now, any ideas on how to persuade Christian? Do you think sending him a home-made cake might help?

In 7.02 Ctrl+Shift+Enter inserts lowercase drive letter. So, fixed.
