descript.ion ignored inconsistantly

Post by *StatusQuo »

In cm_FileSync (the Synchronize Dirs function) the files descript.ion and files.bbs are ignored (not displayed), but not in cm_CompareDirs (Shift-F2 or Mark -> Compare Directories).

I'd vote for treating them consistently in both functions - after synchronizing everything in cm_FileSync, there shouldn't be any differences found using cm_CompareDirs, IMO.
Putting those files on the ignore list would not be a workaround for me, because I like to see what is on my disk...

I hope I didn't overlook an existing parameter for this...
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

In cm_comparedirs, they are ignored if you choose to copy comments with files. Then the comments themselves will be copied during sync, not the comment files.

In cm_CompareDirs, the comment files themselves will be selected, but when you copy more than one file afterwards, they will again be ignored.

(I suppose you meant to write cm_FileSync here.)

Ah, I see - turning off "copy comments with files" lets the descript.ion-files be displayed in cm_FileSync, too.
Thank you for explaining, I'll think about turning this option off then.

Nice feature. Wouldn't you like cm_FileSync to behave the same way?

No, this would be very risky, you could lose a lot of comments this way...
