No autorefresh?

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

No autorefresh?

Post by *roentgen »

I have UpdateEnv=0 (just to test) and WatchDirs=0 (I hate unexpected flicker).

Still, when I right click and choose WinRAR's menu "Add to "archive.rar"" TC is in the background but approximatively after 3 seconds the panels auto-refresh and the new archive is shown.

The same with 7zip.

This is the normal behavior of TC : If you actively change something with TC, the change is displayed.

WatchDirs>0 shows other changes of the filesystem too ( even the not related to TC ones)

Hmm, I didn't see TC doing anything (especially since it's the background app).

Anyway, here's a more interesting one:

- Right click on 50 megs of data > choose WinRAR's "Add to archive..." menu (so that archiving options dialog is presented) and press Enter. The whole operation should happen in less than 2 seconds. After aprox. 3 seconds TC (in the background) refreshes file lists and the new archive is shown.

- Take the same steps as above but wait for about 10 secs at the archiving options dialog. TC will NOT refresh the file lists anymore...

TC refreshes a few seconds after the right click menu function has returned. This is done to refresh e.g. after deleting a few files via right click menu. If you wait longer, TC cannot know when the operation has finished when you turn off auto-refresh.

Is this maybe also the source of stealing the focus from apps started via right click menu?
(this also happens after a few seconds - discussed in the WebDAV plugin thread).

It would be great if this auto-refresh could be turned off (at least for plugins/network drives?)...

[Edit:]
P.S.: I wouldn't mind doing a refresh manually then -
this would be less annoying than being interrupted by the auto-refresh (stealing the focus).
