Allow scroollbars on left side

Post by *jmc »

Hi all, my first post.

I've a tabletpc and I'm lefthandled. So, It's really anoying to scroll the filelist with the scrollbar on the right when using the pen, because my hand hide the filelist :-(

AFAIK, the side of scrollbar can not be changed at OS level. So, some software has an optional left scrollbar. For instance, I use a Firefox extension to do it. It simply adds an additional scrollbar on the left side.

I suggest to allow choose the scrollbar side (not to add another scrollbar). With a wincmd.ini setting would be fine. Of course, right side by default, don't discrimine to righthandled people, :-). It would be good on filelist, in every scrollbars of TC would be perfect.

I think this feature is 'simple' but powerfull for lefthanded tabletpc owners.

Yours, jmc

PS: Lefthandeld power!!! ;-)

Yes, I want this behaviour for the scrollbars. If possible, also for close, min, resize buttons. But not for first filenames and then icons. If someone know some way to do it on English windows xp, let me know, please.

AFAIK, from one microsoft webpage (sorry, I'm not allowed to post URLs, just use the google to find the source) :
Q: Are there any plans to improve the way left handedness gets handled? Even though I have it selected, most scroll bars still show on the right side.
A: Terri, one of our Tablet PC MVPs, had a good answer to this in the Guest window (I'll paste it here): "To move the scroll bars to the other side isn't hard. What's hard is dealing with all the vendors whose programs will no longer work correctly. They'd all need to be rewritten to accept the left scroll bars." We don't have any plans announced in this regard.

it is useful not only for lefthandled.
when panels are horizontal( -left above right)
panel is very wide and i commonly move cursor on left side - above file names, only if i want to move scroll bar i move mouse cursor to very right of window.
