Synchronize Dirs vs. Hidden Dirs

Post by *octantrum »

Ok the question is simple - How can I make Total Com not include hidden directories while running Sync Dirs feature?

Try: Menu->Configuration->Options->Display, Uncheck the Show hidden/system files.

yeah I've tried that but Sync Dirs still includes hidden directories...

it's a pain when directory like System Volume Info is included for instance

You can exclude specific dirs using | just like in Search. See the Search help for more info.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Thanks, that did work... almost.

It works fine for one word directory names, but if you're to exclude multiple word directory name like "System Volume Info" that doesn't work.

You could argue this by suggesting the use of "System*\" but that's not enough. What if I already have a "System" directory that I do want to have included into the search.

I think that addition of a check-box in the Operation options tab that will decide whether hidden files/directories get included in the performed operation: Search. Sync Dirs,... would be MUCH better.

PS.
But I also think that a three- or even four- panel Total Commander would simply ROCK!!! I so often need them... and two TC instances is not the solution.

TC 6.0 will feature Tabs.

What!!? This works now?! Since when? Why didn't you say that earlier? You did? Why didn't anyone knock on my door and say my most wanted feature was implemented? They would have received priceless presents and eternal gratitude!

Hallelujah!

As to the actual question, I haven't hit hidden directories yet. I wouldn't favour another option in the Operations options, but rather that it follows the master switch (cm_SwitchHidSys).

I suppose you know that you could select all non-hidden directories (very easy after cm_SwitchHidSys) and then invoke Synchonize Directories? Of course, this only takes care of hidden directories on the top level.

You can use DOS 8.3 name, it's always consists of one word %).[/face]
