Currently the user can only see thumbnails in one configured size. Sometimes this level of details is just fine. Sometimes you want to see more pictures at once.
My idea to achieve this would be store thumbnails in the configured resolution just as it is now. A new function would allow to zoom out the whole thumbnail view in multiple steps to see more thumbnails at once. TC would then use the thumbnails from the database and draw them scaled down.
Thumbnail view: Scale down thumbnails

Wouldn't this be sufficient?

I support your suggestion.
But it is only useful if your initial thumbnails are relatively big. If your standard setting is small thumbnails and you want them bigger, then using the thumbnails from the database and drawing them scaled up, will probably look awful.

Well of course. The database thumbnail size would be the maximum thumbnail size. But it is only usefull if your initial thumbnails are relatively big. If your standard setting is small thumbnails and you want them bigger, then using the thumbnails from the database and drawing them scaled up, will probably look awful.
