My suggestion:

<> must be used instead of [] (square brackets) for tags in Multiple Rename tool

Cause: I often use square brackets for filenames. It's hard to use Multiple Rename tool for such files. There are conflicts between filenames and tags

If you mask the brackets, you can use them in filenames, too:

[[] Insert square bracket: open
[]] Insert square bracket: close (cannot be combined with other commands inside the square bracket!)
