Adding new code and removing obsolete from TC?

Post by *HAL 9000 »

TC is great program but...I'm not saying this to offend author but is it just me or he is getting a bit lazy? :? I mean, he made a great program, sure, but he refuses to change any existing code if it is not a bug (encryption support excluded)...for example...there is a TON of options that are not in the menu but only attainable through editing wincmd.ini...there is still support for UC2 in the packers (I'm buying beer to anyone who used this in 10 years back! )...yet he refuses to add internal 7z and multi-split rar support saying common sentence "it's to complicated to implement!" I'm a registered user of ACE Command line version...and I can't use 2.6 ver. for packing because input parameters have changed since 2.04! - and that was years ago! Can't imagine how can coding to accept new program version parameters can be a problem? Jezz...OK, I'm not a beta tester so maybe all of this is planned in next TC version..my apologies if this is true...but current TC really needs editing of those "I'll never touch that again cause it's to complicated" lines of code...
Regards!

Well, every user has his own priority view on enhancements.
Your view is obviously packer support related, others don't care about packers but want to see a multimediacenter or FTPS/SFTP or browsing enhancements.
Implementing the whole list of "very important" enhancements will shift the next release to the year 2020 ;)

You can see at New features in Total Commander 7.5 confirmed by the author which features are going to be implemented next. There is a lot of progress, but step by step.

BTW: If you need additional packer support, just use MultiArc - archiver plugin ...

It's not ghisler's fault that you cannot use ACE 2.6:

You have paid for a buggy piece of crap, so you should complain to ACE developers or buy an update another time.

OK, point taken...but my point was infact that some things in TC are left AS IS for ages...and they never came up on the top of the "to do" list...and they really should by now..
