Incorrect folder icons when folder is a link

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Incorrect folder icons when folder is a link

Post by *angussf »

Not sure if this is a TC bug or something else.

Compare these two listings:
Image: http://geoapps.com/images/08/Actual-folder-icons.gif
Image: http://geoapps.com/images/08/TC-ftp-missing-folder-icons.gif

The first is from the clunky web-interface to an FTP server I have at a hosting service. The second is TC's view of the same tree. You can see that several of the folders, those whose names are ".username@geoapps.com", do not appear as folders. In addition, in order for me to back up the contents of these folders, I have to double-click them, then back up their contents manually. Just attempting to copy the ".xxxx@geoapps.com" item results in an error.

The problem is that symlinks do not contain information whether they point to a file or to a directory: they just contain paths. To resolve a link, TC would need to read additional subdirectories, and this could take long time (especially if the current directory contains many links pointing to various places).
