Wish: Separate editors for different filetypes
Something I've wanted for a while is the option of setting a specific editor for a specific filetype, so that my text editor doesn't pop up if I press F4 on (for example) a .wav or a .psd file.

Not the same thing. It's still a single program. I agree that there should be filetype-based editor associations too. And no, pressing enter is not always the choice. For example, a .wav might be associated with a player or a .psd with a viewer, whereas editing might be a tool for a totally different program.
Observe that Windows already has "Open" and "Edit" as separate shell commands, even though they are often associated to the same program.

It is not the same, ie. I use ENTER or Doubleclick by mouse to open the file (ie. with player, viewer, etc.), this I wish to use for editing - small utility executing shell "edit" operation on file or new option which will do this in view/edit Configuration can be a solution.sqa_wizard wrote:A Doubleclick by mouse or a simple ENTER keypress on a file will open the assigned program.
Much more flexible seems to me the first suggestion, ie. associations for editors too - one can easily decide what to use (more ways is always better than a single one

Up to now I thought that the "Properties" dialog (Alt+Enter) is the only *.lnk-editor that I need.Lefteous wrote:I think seperate editors for different filetypes would be a useful addition. Edit a *.lnk-file using your favorite *.lnk-editor by simple pressing F4 sounds good.

It is not. You can define different associations for Alt-F3, just look at the config page for Edit/View.Not the same thing. It's still a single program.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
You're right, that works. Though it would feel slightly more intuitive to have this option on the F4 key, this works quite good.Hacker wrote:oblomov,It is not.
