The ignore list is pretty handy to remove clutter but also rather dangerous because I might miss some items when I really need to work with them.
Therefor I suggest to have the number of ignored items in the status bar.
This could also come handy when TC is working in "Show hidden/system files=OFF" mode.
Needless to say that the message should show in all views (full, brief, comments, etc)
No of ignored items on status bar

…leaving less space for all other information, which there's already not too much space for. I'm against this "improvement", unless it's optional.roentgen wrote:Needless to say that the message should show in all views (full, brief, comments, etc)

Ahh, come on, unless you're using a 640x480 resolution there's 66% free space for additional info in the status bar. Even with 800x600 there's 50% unused space in full view.Flint wrote:…leaving less space for all other information, which there's already not too much space for. Anyway, like all nice things in TC it SHOULD be optional

TC for Linux please!
I have 1280, and when I have long file name sometimes it becomes insufficient. I work mainly in the Brief mode, when the full information is shown in the status bar: name, size, date, attributes. So, there's not so much space left.roentgen wrote:unless you're using a 640x480 resolution there's 66% free space for additional info in the status bar.

Even in brief view mode (which I also use mostly) it wouldn't hurt too much to have something like "123/10/-3", with the numbers meaning "dirs/files/ignored items".
Yes, it cuts off a bit from the available space for filename but I personally think the info it adds it's just too important.
Aside, anyone sees a better place for this kind of info?

Too incomprehensible.roentgen wrote:Even in brief view mode (which I also use mostly) it wouldn't hurt too much to have something like "123/10/-3", with the numbers meaning "dirs/files/ignored items".
Besides, it will break the logic of the status bar in Brief mode: currently it shows exactly the same set of columns which is shown in Full mode in file panels.
I would much more prefer a solution suggested earlier that the status bar should be fully customizable, and that there should be a possibility of making it 2 (or even more) lines high.

I see many places, but none of them would be realized by ghisler I guess.Aside, anyone sees a better place for this kind of info?

Anyway, it's obvious that the status bar in TC is totally outdated, it needs to be fully customizable with any information the user might be interested in, just like in modern file managers nowadays, just look at SpeedCommander or Directory Opus. The count of ignored files is only one of them...
