When editing a file (F4), the item should appear in Windows menu Recent Items (or documents, as I think it used to be called).

Isn't the matter of editor itself?

If TC writes something to "Recent Files", some entries might be duplicated.
"When we created the poke, we thought it would be cool to have a feature without any specific purpose." Facebook...
