Time after time, TC keeps surprising me!!

Post by *ovm »

Hello Christian,

I'm a user since version 2.11 and used every update. And every upate since 2.11 keeps surprising me about the amazing new features!
This means also about the latest new 6.0 version!
After using Windows 95 for a few days I began to hate the Windows Explorer more and more. And so I hated Windows 95.

Untill I discovered the great Total Commander (Windows Commander in these days). You are doing a very, very good job.
Total Commander is always the first program to install after a new Windows installation. I can not and do not want to work with that awefull WinExpl.

You kept me suprising that every time a new update/release was releasing the usage is still for free for registered users.

Maybe the time has come to let us support your investments, and change your policy and let us pay for the updates. It is worth for me!

Keep on going. Thanx for all these years and wonderfull updates

Despite my complaints about the new Tabs behavior (emotionally expressed elsewhere in the forum) I enthusiastically agree with your remarks.

My method in the past has been to simply register another copy of TC when the enhancements have warranted it.

Version 6.0 probably deserves another registration.

So far I have done the same thing three times. It really worths it! :)

I also purchased licenses for all the companies/departments I worked for. They never felt sorry about the investment.

So do I, but ...

I think that's not quite fair. For instance the Windows Explorer had an address bar long before TC. Now the Windows Explorer of Windows XP has a very good image viewer and the columns of detail view are much more customizable than in TC.
Although TC is clearly my primary file manager, I also use Windows Explorer occasionally in peaceful co-existence.

Hmm, if you don't use WinExpl then you also don't use it's address bar.
In the early DOS-days file managing was performed by 99% of the users in 3 different ways:
1- with DOS commands
2- with Norton Commander
3- With PC Tools

especially the users of 2- and 3- were familiar with such a lot of functionality and easyness, the WinExpl was just waste of time and energy.
Microsoft had to do a better research of the best used programs those days.
They did not. Just a simple address bar could not make amends the missing functionalities of NC.
Christian did!
Now the Windows Explorer of Windows XP has a very good image viewer and the columns of detail view are much more customizable than in TC.
Also for this item I had no patience to wait for 8 years (1995 till 2003).
There are a lot of programs that did this fare before WinExpl. Even in DOS!!!.
So I use them with even more functionality as in the WinEXp.

I am new at this forum, but not using TC. Someone said:

-After using Windows 95 for a few days I began to hate the Windows Explorer more and more. And so I hated Windows 95.-

I thouhgt I was the only one who hates WinExpl, now I see there are others with the same feeling.

I keep my InspectA, a File Manager for DOS with all the features we wanted.

Mr. Ghisler, thanks for TC, in all "flavors" !!!!
