Quick View JPG's not displaying

It seems that several other Quick Views work (e.g., wmv, mp3, txt, bmp); however, TIFs, JPGs and GIFs display binary text.

It would be nice if these displayed the same way BMPs do. If this is already in the works please disregard this request.

I have been using Total Commander for years ever since its inception. A great and very helpful product.

? That works…

:) Hello !

• That works perfectly here for these image-types…
- You might state IrfanView or XnView in Lister >> Options —> Configuration… ;)

Clo,
That works perfectly here for these image-types…
Have you tried with a fresh ini?

:) Hi Roman !

• How could you have Irfan¦Xn¦View stated in a fresh INI ? That doesn't make sense…
- An add-on is mandatory to display these types, it's well known that Lister can natively display
BMP and ICO only (and not even all icons properly…).

• Whether mbluett requests a built-in support, that's another song…
… and might be more clearly expressed, sorry.
- Till now, we ought use an add-on. So, it's possible in that way only.

There is also the image plugin that works nicely for Lister. ;)

:) Hi Bob !

• Of course, a specialized plugin is nice too…
- But currently, the Lister-truck needs always a “trailer” to process these images…
- A built-in solution needs additional graphic DLLs for ~ 500 KiB to be suitable…
- Now, I use rather Universal Viewer to show images for some reasons… ;)
- I use Lister almost only to see files in archives - the only important feature that U.V doesn't support (yet ?).

When I do a Quick View, I get JPG and GIF images showing fine. I don't have Irfan¦Xn¦View installed at all.

2Clo,

That was my point. A plugin would work fine with QuickView and would solve his problem. Since I use ACDSee as my image editor, I didn't want to have to install anything else to view images in TC.

Maybe it's needless to say but you don't need to install anything. Portable versions exist and for a long time I was using XnView as main viewer but kept IrfanView for the sake of TC thumbnails (it had better speed on my old PC).

I tried XnView and IrfanView and I didn't think they were as powerful as ACDSee so I didn't stick with them. There are enough plugins for images that it's easier to use one of those.

I feel opposite way but that's not an issue here. For me the most important thing was the number of supported file types. XnV definitely wins in this area. In the past: IV was in the middle between speed and count and that is why I was using it (for types not supported by Imagine). Currently I still use mentioned lister plugin for basic formats but XnV for the rest (thanks to IViewAdditionalTypes parameter).

What is the IViewAdditionalTypes parameter about? I might have to take a look at your setup.

It is a part of [Lister] section of your wincmd.ini file.

This parameter tells TC which extensions should be handled by either IrfanView or XnView for preview / thumbnails.

For a list of formats supported by mentioned viewers take a look here:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=142628#142628

Please, keep in mind that there is a limit to number of extensions kept by this variable:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=160474#160474

Total count: 53 (Imagine) + 43 (parameter) = 96 formats :)

I still hope Christian will "fix limit problem" someday.
