drive combobox (letter m)

Post by *adacom »

apologise if this is known - did a search but found nothing

firstly i am calling the drive combobox the box with all the drive letters in it with the pull down chevron

i have a network drive mapped to m - the letter m does not display correctly in the drive combobox - the box is not wide enough for the network icon - the drive letter [has to be a double width letter - m or w] and the chevron

the m looks like n with a bit tagged on the top right

may have been in 7.04 - i have only just mapped this drive

easy answer is change the drive letter - but i work to a convention that makes this drive m

may als be able to manually change the width but i dont know how?

Set lowercase

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !

• I assume that the M drive is shown as uppercase in TC 7.5 ?
- If so, please add in <wincmd.ini> >> [Configuration]
DrivesShowUpcase=0
- Save the file and restart TC…
- AFAIK, there is no way to widen the combobox itself… :|

2adacom: I tried it using TC 7.50pb4 on Windows XP, but the drive letter is fully visible.

Which TC and OS version are you using ?

Instead of Arial, try Tahoma or reduce the size to 8 or 9 for the main window font!

had sort of worked that out - but i like arial 10 - i have always used it - did not notice this in 7.04 but then i did not have a drive m

my point i guess is if there is a choice of font then it should work or be restricted

i know that can/could be taken to stupid levels with a large font - but what i am choosing is hardly that

and arial 9 is no better - it would have to be 8 which i find too small

Tahoma does work at 10 though - will have to go with that if there is no other fix

edit

answer to post which i missed - am running vista - was running 7.5 beta3 - just updated to beta4 and its no better

most odd - i have just tried arial 48 - it shows more of the 'm' but still not it all - the right hand vertical bar is missing

OK, let's track it down ...
I just tried it on Vista, but in a virtual machine only.

Which theme do you use at Vista ?

i use normal vista theme with a few font changes - non of which should impact on TC?

i am on a laptop at the moment - screen res 1280 x 800 - however it is the same on a desktop on a 22" monitor

TC is not full screen - but if i change it nothing happens

the clue [surely] is the font i prefer - Arial 10 - other fonts and other sizes are ok - also it only happens with 'double' letters - m or w being obvious i guess

it just seems to me its how i have it set - and the font i want to use

when i posted at first i had not thought about the fact that i had changed the font

is there a way to post a screen grab - that shows it

:) Again…

• Here I use a classic Win 9x theme as ususal with XP-Pro, for instance I get SUCH DRIVES LETTERS
(capital) in TC 7.5 - blown up by 300%.
- The font is TrebuchetMS, 9, bold.
- But there is no network icon, maybe is it this icon wider ? :?
- Perhaps could you try such a classic theme, just to get a clue…

Note : Alas, the image feature is still disabled here within the messages, despite N… requests and snivellings… :(

my install is out of the box - well nearly - i have changed the font but not from uppercase to lowercase - its always been like that - its as it came

if i alter the drive letter to K or k then i would see it all even on a network drive - certainly on a local drive

as to the network icon in the combobox - i have not added that it appeared - the drive m is a mapped drive on a computer on a network server - i assume thats where the icon comes from

i am not bothered that the network icon is there - it can go - that would show the m in full - but i have no idea how to get rid of it

as i said earlier i can change the font to get rid of the problem - but thats not the answer - surely - the font should show in full as its from within the TC program

Poking in the dark, maybe it has to do with your DPI settings?
Maybe TC (or Delphi, or what ever) does not determine the right width of a character if the DPI is not set to 96?!
