Quick-Filter: Allow Filter reset

Post by *KyleK »

I'm using the new quickfilter functionality in TC 7.5, which is great and works like a charm.

Sometimes I happen to mistype, which immediately results in a wrong result list, and instinctively I press Ctrl-R to reload the window (and thus reset the filter, as mentioned in history.txt). Since the Quickfilter dialog is still visible though, that doesn't work. I have to press ESC, then Ctrl-R, and only then can I retry my search.

It'd be great to be able to reset the search while in the dialog (other than pressing backspace).

Why not Backspace and delete the wrong letters, or double Esc?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

As weird as it sounds, I suppose I use my left hand more than my right hand, and to use Backspace in this situation instinctively feels inconvenient to me.

If it is difficult to implement I surely can do without it, that's why I put this in the suggestion box :)

That still requires the use of the right hand :)

Really? I can easily press Ctrl+H with left hand only. :)

But if Ctrl+Z will be available for undo, this will be an expected behaviour of any edit-box.

For resetting the filter there's no need press Ctrl-R, It's easyer to press ESC.
So as hacker said, just press ESC twice.

Pressing ESC closes the Quick Search/Quick Filter window, so it means I have to press ESC-ESC-Alt+<some letter>.

This suggestion is about resetting the quick filter to immediately start a new search. The window accepts Ctrl-S as input (to activate the filter) so why not Ctrl-R as well?

As I said earlier, it's just a convenience issue.
