Feeding to Listbox Question/Feature Request

Post by *pdavit »

Dear friends,

I don’t know if there is a workaround to the following problems but any help will be welcome. Yet if there is no solution this can be considered as a future feature request for Christian! :)

Whenever I use the search function of Total Commander and feed the search result to the listbox I find myself unable to see some file names and/or folders that are way to long (yet in relatively normal lengths). The listbox has no horizontal bar that I can scroll to see the remaining of the paths. I don’t know if this is a normal behaviour or not (well, I guess it is as there is no bug or something but rather an inability of TC). In addition the tooltip (which I have active in the configurations) seams not to be functioning for file lists feed using the search function. As a result I’m unable to see some of the files and/or folders in total but only the visible parts sourced from my current window size of Total Commander! :(

Apparently TC is treating the feed lists in a different way than the normal file lists but if we are unable to view entries of the list we are unable to select what we actually need!

So, is there a workaround? Can I selectively (or for the whole list) view the whole path or am I missing something here? I know that coping the path(s) might work (didn’t try it) but this will be a painstakingly procedure for file managing the files of the list!

Kind regards,

Panos

Panos, amazing! I don't believe you don't know this! Or maybe I don't understand your question :). The answer is very very (5 more times) simple: drag the splitter (between panes) with a mouse, or right-click the splitter and choose some predefined percentage. You can also use horizontal panes splitting instead of vertical one:
cm_VerticalPanels=305;File windows above each other

Of course I know this Valentino but this is a partial solution as some paths are so long that even the horizontal panes won’t do! What’s preventing Christian in implementing a horizontal bar for scrolling I still don’t know! ;)

You're totally right. I think you'll see it soon because this must be "one click" work :)

Hello, I'm a newcomer on TC forum and I will be reading old posts too. Maybe I will add something valuable or comment something. So let's start with this:
We still have that problem in TC 6.02. But a workaround are:
- Tooltips for truncated names
- If you use only keyboard try Shift+F6 (Renaming function) and press ESC key afterwards. (Or is there something better?)
:-)

LongInStatus=1 - Show long name in status bar in mode view-full.

But then again you loose the other details so it's up to the individual user needs.

PS: By the way does anyone know if Valentino is ok? I haven't seen him around for some time!

He really seldom comes here, now but he's ok AFAIK.
I've talked to him via ICQ not so long ago. He even asked what's going on here :-)

He used to be though a regular member and I always liked him. It's good to hear that he is safe and sound! :)

Hmmm! Strange! He "asked what's going on here"? How come he didn't pay a visit himself?!

Anyway, Valentino we need your brains here and your good manners, please, come back!! ;)

Total Commander uses a listbox control which does not support a horizontal scrollbar, thats why :P

Maybe it's just a problem of time..., maybe that's why Valentino is away form here. I also miss him here.

Aezay, pdavit,
You want to say you've never seen a horizontal scrollbar in TC's listbox?
(If it was a joke then sorry, I was not sure.)

TIA

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Well, now I don't get it! Was that a joke or not?

Have you ever seen a horizontal bar?

Also Ctrl + F1, brief mode with lots of files, the listbox has a horizontal bar,
