Possibility to drag and drop files to Compare Contents form

Post by *Frede »

It would be great if you could drag and drop files into the compare contents window from the WIndows Explorer (or TC itself).

Now you have to specify the file by clicking the >> button. It would be much easier if the files could just be dragged onto either the left or right pane right away.

Thanks for an awesome tool!

Maybe I agree with it. It is faster to drag files from TC than to load them using Browse Left/Right buttons.

Take a look at the freeware stand-alone "Comparer" http://fenixproductions.dcmembers.com/ which can be used with file-comparers like "WinMerge". http://winmerge.org/

I already have a "power comparer" in Araxis Merge. But for simple comparison wiht text files I prefer using the built-in variant.

Alternative way for the meantime: Copy/Paste instead of missing Drag/Drop:
  • cm_CopyFullNamesToClip from TC main window (can be assigned to hotkey or button)
  • mark path in left or right compare panel
  • insert copied file path (using Shift+Insert or Ctrl+V or mouse context menu)
Not perfect, but better than browse button, I'd say. ;-)
However, drag&drop would probably be more convenient for mouse users.
