Unicode bugs still exist in 7.5 final.
Still tested with Chinese language in Japanese Windows.
Bug 1:
Select a folder,Ctrl+Z to open desctiption dialog."F2 确定" wasn't shown correctly. "确" is replaced with "?".
Bug2:
Follow the step of Bug 1.
Then input some Chinese words. For example "垃圾箱"(you can copy and paste to test).Press F2.
Move mouse hovering that folder. Tooltip shows "??箱" but not “垃圾箱”.
It seems the file descript.ion wasn't written in unicode but ANSI.

ANSI for ever

Hello !
• I checked a descript.ion file I just created on a NTFS dir., it's ANSI…
- I think that this format doesn't support Unicode, it was designed prior for DOS (it belongs to the Authors of 4Dos )…
… But I could be wrong…

Clo is right: there is no Unicode support for descript.ion files. Neither for their content nor for files names containing "strange" characters.
Some info about it:

Be also aware about some bug/misfeature:

Support for informing user about such limit.Lefteous wrote:Mh maybe the dialog could warn the user that there is currently no support for Unicode for descript.ion files when he enters characters which don't belong to the current codepage or something like that?
Red, bold label appearing in such case in "File comment" dialogue should be OK.

Indeed comments do not currently support Unicode, sorry. I couldn't find any information about supporting Unicode in descript.ion files. Someone wrote that it would work with normal UTF-16 text files, but I haven't seen any program supporting that. Also older TC versions and other programs couldn't work with them and may even damage them.

Great, thanks! About 2: This only works in Chinese Windows, because standard descript.ion uses ANSI, not Unicode (at least I have never seen one using Unicode).
