TC 7.50a - freezes and gets a lot of mem when synchronizing

Post by *vklaus »

Hello,

I synchrozize a lot of file and TC gets a lot of memory - more than 1 GB - during several seconds and still freezes.

The problem is that synchronizing uses RecycleBin and I had there 70.000 files. So please - delete files immediatelly or make it as option. There is a lot of empty space in Synchronize window.

Now I've found info about pressing Shift before Synchronizing but it seems to me as undocumented feature.

Vladimir

P.S. I use Win7 Ultimate 64bit on Intel Core i7 with 6 GB RAM, so there is no problem with power of my PC.

Indeed you can hold down Shift when starting the sync copy operation to delete directly.

Hello Christian,

a) Pressing Shift is not documented nor i Help file
b) Don't you think it should be as an option (3 states - current behaviour, always delete, always trash) in Synchronize window?
c) I suppose Synchronizing directories is not Delete operation, where "delete x trash" is really important.

I use Synchronize dirs daily several times and often on huge directories, so improving it in this way would be very helpful for me.

Vladimir

P.S. I had similar problem with ZipTV component, when packing with "move" atribute. It deletes packed files into trash bin and a lot of customer report problem "application is freezed". Fortunatelly there is option for direct delete...

I confirm that problem.
I have 64bit w7 ultimate and I7 cpu. But instead of synchronizing I use delete on left/right option from context menu. It takes a lot of memory and get all cores to 100% usage! and it's slow!!
I tried trick with shift but it doesn't work

Itried tc running in normal mode and as a administrator

ps. I have mentioned about similar when deleting (to bin) files over the mail.

problem doesn't exist if you switch recycle bin off

It's a known bug of Win7: It creates a separate thread for each deleted file when deleting to recycle bin. Therefore you have to hold down Shift to bypass it.
